Periscope

Periscope is an app that is an app that has been recently released. This app is meant to give the user the opportunity to “explore the world through someone else’s eyes”

Here’s the story of periscope;

Just over a year ago, we became fascinated by the idea of discovering the world through someone else’s eyes. What if you could see through the eyes of a protester in Ukraine? Or watch the sunrise from a hot air balloon in Cappadocia? It may sound crazy, but we wanted to build the closest thing to teleportation. While there are many ways to discover events and places, we realized there is no better way to experience a place right now than through live video. A picture may be worth a thousand words, but live video can take you someplace and show you around.

Simply put, Periscope enables you to “go live” via your mobile device anytime and anywhere. The app enables you to become your own “on the go” broadcasting station, streaming video and audio to any viewers who join your broadcast. Periscope is an app that truly takes advantage of its mobile platform incorporating notifications and location as well as social sharing (on Twitter of course), live discussions and feedback.

Periscope is an app that was recently used by social media professionals because they are noticing the branding opportunity this app gives. It gives interactive customer support, it gives a company the opportunity to show how to use a product, and it can help a company conduct focus groups and so much more.

This app is a ‘real time’ app and gives the viewers and consumers the chance to see things first hand and up close. This app is connected to Twitter and is still in the process of growing, but there is so much room for growth that there is no doubt this app will grow and become one of the dominating apps we have today.
